Serial Information

"Xiao Ao Jiang Hu" was written by Jin Yong in 1960s. Although, it's not as popular as The Condor Heroes Trilogy, but it has a comparable twist of story. A very interesting plot. It has been adapted to TV series for five times(TVB 84, TVB 96, TCS 2000, Taiwan 2000 and CCTV 2001). And, also to 108 minutes movies, entitled The Swordsman I & II.

CCTV, as the first Mainland China TV station, that adapted one of Jin Yong novels to a TV series, chose "Xiao Ao Jiang Hu" to begin. Now, followed by other Mainland production company, with Hap Hak Hang(Ode To Gallantry) and Lin Sing Kuet(Link Cities). CCTV will also adapt the most grandeur Jin Yong's novel soon, too...that is She Diao Ying Xiong Zhuan(Legend of The Condor Heroes).

Xiao Ao Jiang Hu(CCTV 2001) was shoot in the year 2000 for 6 months, broadcasted on channel CCTV-8 in March 26th, 2001, and then released on VCD/DVD in around mid-May. It comprises 40 episodes with Huang Jianzhong as the director and Zhang Jizhong as producer. Starred by Li Yapeng and Xu Qing. The ending themesong, also entitled Xiao Ao Jiang Hu is sung by Liu Huan and Faye Wong(Hongkong pop diva!^_~).

A lot of people held high expectations for this adaptation, as was also Jin Yong. He even cared enough to visit the set and gave Li Yapeng advice on how to understand his role as Linghu Chong.
